Implementation Strategy of Test Facility Based on Auto-Transformer for LVRT/HVRT Evaluation of Large-Scale Wind Turbine

In accordance with South Korea’s recent 2030 Carbon Neutral Plan, an 8GW offshore wind farm is planned for construction in the South-west Sea. Therefore, it expected that large-scale turbines will be installed, and these must operate stably, even when there are instantaneous voltage fluctuations power system. The grid code described low-voltage-ride-through (LVRT) high-voltage-ride-through (HVRT) functions, a test facility can perform both LVRT HVRT tests essential. case of LVRT/HVRT facilities developed by existing RLC (impedance component) method, may difficult to due problems such as quality, frequent failures narrow short-circuit capacity ranges. solve problems, this paper proposes autotransformer type, which capable outputting desired range changing wiring method tap position. Specifically, order implement able output according status, presents impedance determination algorithm (two-step layer algorithm) auto-transformer based on fault-current analysis operation strategy at real testing evaluation facility.
